Requirements
What to Build:
- Innovative Media Solutions: Participants are encouraged to develop projects that address current challenges in the media industry. This can include, but is not limited to:
- New tools for journalism and content creation
- Platforms for enhancing audience engagement
- Solutions for data-driven storytelling
- Applications leveraging emerging technologies like AI, AR/VR, and blockchain for media
- Creative Content Proposals: Participants can propose any form of media content. Examples include, but are not limited to, video series, podcasts, documentaries, interactive stories, or multimedia projects. The goal is to showcase innovation in storytelling and content delivery.
- Sustainability Solutions: Develop projects that create sustainable business models for media, innovative digital revenue streams, or collaborative journalism efforts. Focus on solutions that ensure the long-term viability of media organizations.
- Ethical and Cultural solutions: that address ethical dilemmas and cultural challenges in the media industry. This could include tools for ensuring ethical journalism practices, platforms for cross-cultural collaboration, or strategies for dealing with misinformation and bias.
- Functional Prototype: The project must include a working prototype that demonstrates the core functionality of your solution. This should be a tangible product that can be interacted with or demonstrated.
- Impact and Feasibility: Projects should not only showcase innovation but also consider their impact on the media industry and the feasibility of implementation in real-world scenarios.
What to Submit:
- Project Title and Description: Provide a clear and concise title for your project along with a detailed description. This should include:
- The problem your project addresses
- Your proposed solution
- Key features and functionalities
- Demo Video: A 3-5 minute video demonstrating your project. The video should cover:
- An introduction to the problem and your solution
- A walkthrough of the prototype, highlighting key features
- The impact and potential future developments of your project
3. Content Samples (if applicable):
Submit any relevant samples that showcase the style and content of your proposal. This could include clips, episodes, trailers, or other media formats depending on the nature of your project. Include a brief written description of each sample.
- GitHub Repository or Codebase (if applicable): Include a link to your project's code repository (e.g., GitHub, GitLab). Ensure the repository is public and includes:
- Clear instructions on how to set up and run the project
- Proper documentation of the code
- Presentation Slides: A brief slide deck (maximum 10 slides) summarizing your project. This should cover:
- Problem Statement
- Solution Overview
- Key Features
- Technical Architecture
- Impact and Feasibility
- Future Plans
- Team Information: List the names and roles of all team members. Include brief bios and any relevant experience or skills that contributed to the project.
- Optional Supporting Materials: Any additional materials that might support your submission, such as user research, design prototypes, or market analysis.
Submit your project on Devpost by the deadline specified in the event schedule. Make sure all links and files are accessible to judges for review.
Prizes
Media Innovation Prize 2024
Our prize package for the Media Innovation Hackathon is valued at over 500,000 Qatari Riyals (QR) in incentives, generously provided by our sponsors and partners. While we don't offer a cash prize, our incentives are designed to support and empower the winners as they continue their innovative work in media and technology.
Prize Package Includes:
Startup Packages: Each winner will receive a comprehensive startup package, including registration under Media City Qatar and a license for two years.
Office Hosting: Winners will have the opportunity to work from Media City Qatar's state-of-the-art offices, providing a conducive environment for further development and collaboration.
Production Funding: For the winner of the content pillar, Media City Qatar will fully or partially fund the production costs of their winning project, whether it be a documentary, podcast series, or other multimedia content.
These prizes are aimed at providing valuable support and resources to our winners, enabling them to bring their innovative ideas to life and make a meaningful impact in the media industry.
